 
   
 Congratulations to Leek ASC who have gained promotion to Division One National Arena League 2009
Leek Swimming Club is a very friendly club which offers swimmers of all abilities a chance to better their performance. As an ASA Swim 21 accredited club they offer a range of sessions at appropriate levels to suit the individual requirements of each professionally assessed swimmer. From beginners through to National standard there are opportunities to suit all. The primary aim of the club is to further and develop competitive swimming in Staffordshire. The structure of the club reflects this with training squads progressing through to the Region Squad providing 12 1/4 hours pool training, professional land training and long course pool training at Loughborough. The club also supports an active Masters Training Squad as well as opportunities for coaches or individuals wishing to pursue an active role within competitive swimming. The club has a full compliment of qualified and dedicated coaches who attend regular training and personal development workshops and is headed up by Geoff Summerfield, Head Coach. Geoff has a considerable amount of experience in competitive swimming and as well as his duties at Leek ASC he is also working with the ASA Junior Talent GB/England Squad Programme. He has successfully coached many individuals and squads to County, Regional and National Level. In addition he has coached and continues to be involved with Dan Vickers aged 18 who won the 200m Butterfly Nationals Final in 2008 and a Silver Medal in the Junior Commonwealth Games in India. Dan is still a regular member of Leek ASC although now has to spend his time split between his club and GB commitments. The club provides free trials to potential new swimmers and this can simply be done by contacting one of the individuals listed below. The club has enjoyed success both at a club level and individual swimmer level. In 2006 Leek ASC were Crusader Division One Champions and also entered Division 2 of the West Midlands Speedo League having become overall Division 3 Champions at the end of the previous season. Individual swimmers have gained National Qualifying Times, GB Qualifying Times as well as selection for Staffordshire County Squad and Inter Association North Midland Team. In addition the club has swimmers who have achieved GB talent selection onto a variety of programmes including ACE and England Talent Development Programme. The club regularly has swimmers representing ESSA (English Schools) at national competition level. Swimmers, parents and coaches also enjoy the regular programme of fun nights including bowling, quasar and presentation evenings.
